Part 6 - The Last March of The Night

Part 6 – The Last March of The Night

The sound of owls sounded loud with the sound of scraping trees chatting with the wind that blew gently in the evening before morning. I’m as usual getting ready with my routine to face the war that will soon arrive.
But tonight was different from the previous nights…

“I’m okay, my fever has been high for the past two days, but I’ve done the PCR test, just waiting for the results”, said my sister. I can only contemplate. I’m reminded of how a few months ago, I lost 3 of my older sisters and brothers to covid before I was finally found by this family, the Knights Templar. “I’m fine, my husband and my son are also getting better. Go,” she said breaking my daydream.

I stepped out of the house with my head down and my thoughts wandering everywhere, breaking through the bone-chilling cold of the night to meet my best friends who are currently gathered preparing to face war. “Looks like I can’t lead the war tonight…”, I thought. I looked into the command room, it was deserted and no one was there. I also asked while joking to my friends who were gathered.
“Anyone want to lead?”, I said with a smile.
Danno looks surprised, Damsy pretends to see the stars, and the Tempest Master tries to reach for the moon.

Yup, it turns out that we are only 4 fighters tonight to face the enemy.

“haha okay, I will try to lead then, no worry :)”, I said laughing. I didn’t have the heart to tell them my condition. Tonight’s battlefield is quite tough, the enemy has taken a 40% step ahead of us. We need full concentration and have to put other things aside. If I was once able to lead when a volcano erupted (another true story), now I should be able to. it won’t take long and I can go home fast.

And so began our journey. We are slowly securing one sector after another. Until finally at a critical moment, two regions before facing the area where the enemy had prepared, Yepadlic.

You can see the sweat on the faces of my best friends, they are still enthusiastic even though there are only a few of us.

“There’s only four of us,” I said.
“Let’s just kick a s s and do what we can”, said Damsy.
Danno and the Tempest Master nodded their heads confidently, giving me support.

“we will go on 2 sectors next. If i put stop sign at the middle of fighting, take a look directly to Yepadlic okay! its our 1st priority”, I said firmly.
They were seen nodding with a glint of fire in their eyes excitedly.

“get ready on Yepadlic, we will give everything we have on it!”, I added. Everyone was silent, their eyes sharpened deathly, their hands shaking tightly gripping the drawn sword.

“Enemy ahead of us by more then 40 lol we can make it!, one more minute… keep in mind, if they do not show up, we stop on 145, if they challenge us, we will close it!”, I said closing my words.

There was no reply, not a word was spoken. The night was very quiet, the only sound was the whistling of the wind that blew. But I know, they have prepared and made their own determination. The last fight of the night.

And there was a shriek of voices echoing to start our fight. With gritted teeth and the steadfast determination of my friends, we raced against the enemy. Slowly but surely… half the battle felt so long, tense and I couldn’t even remember to breathe. Finally Damsy tried to raise the flag there, but he fell down, which was immediately greeted by Danno with all his might to raise the flag. Danno was thrown by the enemy’s attack and the Tempest Master immediately charged in his place, trying to set up a flag on the enemy’s fortifications.

The enemy flag and us kept changing one after another for a while, we continued to fight with determination. We continued to fight blindly… until finally the shout of victory rang out, we managed to beat them, my friends! We, who have been silentl, cheering for the victory…

Happiness radiates from the faces of my friends. With the remaining energy trying to secure the last two sectors that made our attrition very high. But we are smiling and happy, we have successfully completed our task.

The battle was over, after celebrating a bit of victory, we parted ways to return to our homes. And I, now back home with an upright and happy face. They, my friends, my family, always support me in whatever condition I am. I’m not alone, they will always be there for me, and I love them very much. Our victory tonight gives spirit and hope in my heart, if everything will be alright.
